Journal - Where are you right now on your "Who Do You Think You Are" project? What did you do over the break for the project? Did you interview anyone? Use the checklist below to figure out what you have finished, what you are still working on and what you still have to do. 

i finished my interviews, i interviewed my mom and my dad and they gave me good information, it helped. I finished my family tree and i picked the 15 family members i want to put into my prezi. I have not written my email because most of them don't have an email or can't get to good internet connection but overall it is going good.

Journal - How did you stop motion animation turn out? If you could give it a grade, what would you give it out of 60 points? What did you learn from creating this video?

I think it turned out pretty well. At first I didn't really like it but going more into the video it looked pretty good. I would give myself probably like a 56 out of 60. I learned that it was a really easy project I didn't have to take nearly as much pictures as i though i would and the whole putting it together part was fine too. I wouldn't mind doing it again and now that i know how to do it i'm sure my next one would turn out a lot better.

Journal - How far along are you on your stop motion animation? What did you do over the weekend to work on you stop motion animation? Do you have all your pictures today? Will you have all your pictures by the end of the hour? Give me a detailed updated.

I am finished taking my pictures so i'm done. Over the weekend I took all the pictures and i have them saved but i don't know why I didn't think we were gonna do anything with them today so my camera isn't with me so it wont be on the computer by the end of the hour but i will have them on by the beginning of the day tomorrow.

Journal - What are you planning on doing for your stop-motion animation video? What story are you going to tell? How will your video be fun and different? Who is taking your photos? When are you taking your photos?

I liked the idea of taking a picture every ten minutes for six or seven hours. I think it might take a while or not work the way i want it to but it should be fun. I'm taking my own photos and i'll probably start taking them of Sunday.

Journal - What photo editing tool(s) have you used so far on your 5 photos project? Do you like the tool? Is it easy to use? Hard to use? What's good about it? Whats bad about it? Give a detailed review of the tool.

I've been using the tool ipiccy.com. I really like it because it's very easy to use and I've used picture editing tools like it before so I'm kind of used to it. It's good because it has everything you need to edit a picture but what i don't like about it is that some of the tools on the website cost money or need you to make an account to use. But overall it's helpful.

Journal - What are the pros and cons to photo editing? What are some examples of when photo editing is fun and appropriate? When can photo editing be inappropriate or too much?

The pros are it can make your picture look better. I you look bad or there's something you don't like about the picture you can just edit it and you'll like it. The cons are sometimes it can be too much. If you over edit it it might look fake and not good.

Journal – What is your favorite web tool that we have used in class so far this year? Why is it your favorite web tool? What do you like about it? How can you use it again in the future?

My favorite web tool is bubble.us. It was the easiest one to use and it kept my presentation organized. I liked how simple it was, i never got frustrated while using it and i finished my project pretty fast because of it, plus i never had any problems with it. I would use it again in the future if i waned to plan something or if i had an idea and i wanted to neatly type it.

Journal- Tell me about your weekend.

On Saturday i hung out with my friends. We went to the mall but i didn't have any money so that was pretty sad. After we left we went out to eat then we went back to one of their houses and watched a movie and make cookies and ate some more.

Journal - What makes a presentation memorable? What makes a presentation stand out and not boring? How are you going to make your presentation better than anyone else? How will you make it unique? Explain. 

I think the way it is presented makes it memorable. If you're just standing and talking no one really cares because your topic probably isn't interesting but if you're really talkative and you're moving and interacting with the class. The way i'll make it better is probably just by making the PowerPoint or whatever creative and eye caching and people will have to remember it.

Journal - What did you learn from the Ted Talk yesterday? Did you find it interesting or accurate? Explain.

i thought it was very interesting because it was very true. Everything she said was pretty accurate and im sure a lot of people would agree. I read a lot about people who can stay on their phones for hours and not feel alone and i think i could be like that sometimes, when im not with my friends or family im on my phone and 2 hours can pass by and i feel like i had a pretty productive day.

Journal - What do you love about the "digital age" that we currently live in? What do you dislike about it? What are positives ways you use technology in your life? What are some things that come along with technology that you don't like? Explain.

I just love that it gives you something to do. If you don't feel like studying of socializing you can get on a computer and let 2 hours pass by. What i dislike about it is that it makes it easier for drama to be caused but it helps make life easier in school, work and all those. But it can be complicated and frustrating.

Journal - Tell me about your Homecoming weekend (whether you went to the activities or not!). Tell me about what you did over the weekend.

I didn't go to homecoming but my weekend was really fun. My sister turned 18 last Thursday so we celebrated her birthday over the weekend. On Friday me and my cousin went to dinner and on Saturday we went to Worlds of Fun because of the haunted houses. Overall it was a really fun weekend because I took a break from studying and doing school work for once.

Journal - Most students view siting work as 'a pain in the butt'. How do you feel about it? Is it necessary? When is it appropriate to cite work? What's the importance of it?

I think it really is a pain in the butt. It's just an extra step to do and no one really wants do do it after tying up and planning a five page essay, but i understand why teachers have you do it. If you wrote an article and had someone steal the whole thing and get credit that would be really annoying and there are other purposes it serves too so its pretty important its just something that lazy people don't want to do.

i read a lot of magazines but i think my favorite one is People magazine. I'm one of those people who love seeing whats going on in celebrities lives and seeing fashion so that's why i love looking through it, and there are those times where i'll read vogue it really depends on my mood but i read a lot of those kind of magazines.

i enjoy writing a lot. i like writing about anything, its something i'm pretty good at and I've always thought it was easy. Writing is very essential because you use it for everything. like applying for a job if you don't know how to write and it just looks really bad you wont get the job and wont go very far. You will use it to apply for jobs or write to people you may be working with. If you are not a good professional writer you really wont go that far in life in most cases.

Journal - What is creating an outline for a paper important? Do you think it helps you personally? How would you prefer to outline a paper - pen and paper or an online tool? Is there a different way you know if that would prefer to organize your thoughts?

I think its really important because it lets you plan out what you want to do for your project and organize your ideas rather than just throwing everything on a piece of paper and turning it in. I don't really mind what i use, pen and paper is obviously much easier than using a complicated website but whatever you use doesn't make a difference they both get everything organized for you. I usually just right down everything i want to do and add on a piece of paper, that's how I've always done it so i don't really know any other ways.

My weekend was pretty boring. Friday was fun because i hung out with friends and the weather was really nice but Saturday and Sunday were really boring. On Saturday i went shopping with my mom which was pretty fun but for the rest of the day i stayed home and ate a lot, and on Sunday i was home the whole time i cleaned the house and studied.

Journal - What is good email etiquette and why is it essential in the "real" world? How can having good email etiquette put you ahead?

its basically typing a proper email. Its essential because it makes you look professional and if someone reads an email that is well typed up and looks proper and very professional they are more likely to respond to it and take you more seriously than someone who has a message that looks like you put no thought into it and is very demanding. People will choose to respond to the more proper email and you will get what you need or what is was you were sending the email for faster.

Journal - If there was one big global issue in the world that you could fix, what would it be? A cure for cancer? Save the rain forest? Stop pollution? Think about it and then write about it. Why would you choose that specific issue? 

I would stop pollution. People don't realize how bad the effects of throwing your trash on the floor has on earth and its just pretty disgusting its gross walking around and seeing trash on the floor, the world is not your dumpster. and it's causing a lot of problems with the atmosphere. Its not hard to throw your trash in a trashcan it doesn't involve hard labor and you can be saving our plant from a lot of things by doing it.

Public service announcements are basically something you're announcing to the public about anything or like a certain topic to inform the public about something. It would probably be something health related, like if people need to not eat a certain food or something like that just telling them to watch out.

My hobbies are spending time with my friends or running of just doing anything but sitting around. MY free time is usually spent with my friends or family. i love horror movies. its really rare i see a movie that scares me to where i cant sleep but when i do i love it. My favorite TV show is pretty little liars i think its really suspenseful and i want to watch it till the end. I don't really have a favorite sport i like watching soccer though.

Journal - What are some qualities of a good presentation? How can you make a boring presentation interesting? Explain.

I think its all in the way you're presenting. if you're just standing in front of a class and talking people will get bored but if you're up and interacting with the people you're presenting to and you have a really fun presentation and sound enthusiastic people will wake up and listen rather than just having a poster board and explaining to people what they see

Journal - Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it.

It depends. if i posted it to my Facebook or twitter etc. no one has the right to use it because that's my personal profile. But if it is on some random website where you don't even have a profile you just submit pictures of yourself then I'm not saying that people should be able to use it but it is most likely someone will and you wont really be able to do anything about it  but overall your pictures shouldn't be used by anyone if you didn't say they can.

Journal - What is the importance of online safety and protecting your information? What do you do to protect yourself online? Share an experience you or someone you know has had with online safety.

Online safety is very important. You cant just give out your address or anything because everyone can see it and you can put yourself and your family in serious danger. On social networking sites i put my profile on private, i don't let random people see my pictures, i never use that thing that lets people know where i am, like the location services, i don't post things letting people know i'm out of the house and if someone requests to follow me i don't let them unless i know who they are. I don't have any personal experiences or any of my friends but I've heard a lot of stories about online safety and how people can find you so you have to be very careful.

I know that everyone is addicted to them including myself and even younger children are getting into Web 2.0. but they're good in a way because they let you connect with everyone but they can also be really dangerous. I'm only on one site that lets me post information and that is tumblr.com but there are the really popular ones like, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pintrist, Youtube, Instagram,and We Heart It. I use tumblr a lot because its really entertaining but i don't post anything on it i just read and see what other people are posting.

Journal - After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use." 

After watching this i kind of hit me that in this day and age everyone wants to be the same and there's no originality. And how he said that people are trying to sell us an image that's very true, everyone has to look a certain way to make it in life and that statement has gotten to everyone. So i thought he was telling us to not listen to what society wants us to be. 

The way i understand this quote is like the people who made life were no better than us, they were on the exact same level so why should we be living the way they want you to live. its your life and you do with it what you want. If they're no smarter than me then i have the power to create my own way of life and not theirs.
